Situation

When an EdTech company introduced printed materials into their offerings, they started with a print-on-demand printer. However, as they entered a growth phase, they quickly outgrew the capabilities of the POD model. Additionally, the cost of four-color printing was prohibitive, making it challenging to offer competitively priced materials. This prompted the publisher to seek an experienced print partner who could scale with them.

Solution

The publisher sought out an experienced educational print partner who could not only handle their printing needs but also provide warehousing and fulfillment services. Leveraging their expertise as an educational book printer, B&B provided consultation to the publisher on product management. They also facilitated a seamless process by allowing the publisher to digitally submit orders from their system for integration into B&B's inventory management system.

Outcome

With B&B's support, the educational publisher was able to overcome their printing challenges and offer competitively priced teacher materials to schools. Additionally, they could now provide pilot programs containing both student and teacher materials, enabling schools and teachers to implement and evaluate the publisher's offerings. By transitioning to long-run printing for their student workbooks, the publisher raised their gross profit margin from 35% to 67%.
